Sylvester finishes joint runner-up in the prestigious "Contest of Champions" Invitational event organised by the Canine Supporters Charity

Sylvester had the honour to represent our breed at this invitational match event, by virtue of finishing Top Border Collie in the UK in 2009. This "Contest" is for the top winning 64 show dogs in the country from the previous year.
The match event is held at a London Hotel and commences with a drinks reception followed by a Gala Dinner. 280 people attended this year’s function to support the 64 entrants from across all 7 "Show Groups" and we are very grateful to our "special guests" who travelled to London to support Sylvester in person.

The event is organised as a straight knock out contest with dogs going head to head in each round, the draw is made at the start of the Contest and the 3 International Judges for the event always remain a secret until they are introduced at the Gala Dinner on the night. The Judges for this year’s event were Mr. Hiroshi Kamisato from Japan, Mr. Bela Siklosi from Hungary and Mr. Jos De Cuyper from Belgium.

Sylvester beat a Bedlington Terrier in round one and then in successive rounds knocked out the Dogue De Bordeaux, a Bernese Mountain Dog and the Dobermann on his way to the final. Sylvester was the only non-Gundog in the final 4 dogs; where he finished a close runner-up to the eventual winner an English Springer Spaniel.

A fantastic day which started when we left home at just after 10.00am on the Saturday morning and continued on until well past midnight with awards, photos, drinks and dancing; finishing in the very early hours of the following Sunday morning!
