Moss was home bred in 1997 and the fact that he was the first puppy in a litter that was born on Gary’s birthday was always bound to make him special ! He was originally sold on as a puppy to another show home as we wanted a bitch from the litter, however circumstances occurred which allowed us to have him back as a Junior.

After a period of settling in at home, Moss was re-introduced to the show world in early 1999. At his initial Championship show outing he stunned us by winning the CC first time out, from the Special Yearling class at Southern Border Club show under Leslie Morgan – a very emotional day that we will never forget.

This high was followed soon afterwards by an extreme low when Moss was taken seriously ill after returning home from a show a few weeks later. Following a major operation the Vet managed to save his life, but in the process he shaved most of his coat off! Six months out of the ring followed, but on his Championship show return he picked up a reserve CC from the Limit class. The winter Open shows then followed and Moss amassed an incredible run of 7 Best of Breeds in 7 shows, made all the more remarkable by the fact that he also won 5 Best in Show awards and 1 Reserve Best in Show award from these outings.

The 2002 season saw Moss continue his winning ways with the award of his second CC from leading all-rounder Zena Thorn-Andrews at Bath Championship show, followed a couple of weeks later by his third and crowning CC at Three Counties Agricultural Show from Vic Salt.

Moss continued to impress in the show ring and he won a further 3 CCs from Terry Thorn, Christine Richardson and Jayne Cresswell before he retired.

Moss also made a significant impact on the breed as a stud dog during this period, siring a number of CC winners and Champions including our own "Amy" – Sh Ch Claygar Shake Your Booty and Ann Stacey's "Dennis" – Sh Ch Madeleys Checkmate.

Moss was sadly taken from us in 2006 aged just 9 – we had always known this was likely to happen due to the damage caused by his earlier illness, but it still did not make his passing away any easier to come to terms with.
